Pearl Jam Releases New Album Gigatron Today

Gigaton marks the bandโ€™s first studio album since Grammy award-winning, Lightning Bolt, which was released on October 15, 2013.

Pearl Jam have released their anxiously awaited new album, Gigaton [Monkeywrench/Republic Records], today. Get it at www.pearljam.com.

Earlier this week, the band previewed the record on a special dial-in hotline: 585-20-PEARL (585-207-3275). Phoning the line allowed fans to listen to tracks in full before Gigatonโ€™s official arrival. Following singles โ€œDance of the Clairvoyantsโ€ and โ€œSuperblood Wolfmoon,โ€ they also shared โ€œQuick Escapeโ€ as the final instant grat on Wednesday.

At Metacritic, Gigaton registered the groupโ€™s second highest cumulative critical scoreโ€”only bested by their diamond-certified debut, Ten. Among numerous positive reactions, Associated Press exclaimed, โ€œPearl Jam come roaring back with superb new album.โ€ In a four-out-of-five star review, Rolling Stone wrote, โ€œThe group has blended the miasmic angst of โ€˜Jeremyโ€™ and โ€˜Aliveโ€™ with a sense of tenderness and even flashes of hope.โ€ UPROXX promised, โ€œPearl Jam is reliable on โ€˜Gigatonโ€™ at a moment when nothing else is,โ€ and Spin christened it โ€œTheir best album since the late nineties.โ€

Gigaton represents Pearl Jam at the peak of progression. From moments of guitar-fueled catharsis such as โ€œWho Ever Saidโ€ through the icy absolution of โ€œRiver Cross,โ€ the lyrics, riffs, and rhythms transmit a message of hope, culminating on Eddie Vedderโ€™s final words, โ€œHere and nowโ€ฆwonโ€™t hold us downโ€ฆshare the lightโ€ฆwonโ€™t hold us down.โ€

Produced by Josh Evans and Pearl Jam, Gigaton marks the bandโ€™s first studio album since GRAMMYยฎ award-winning, Lightning Bolt, which was released on October 15, 2013. Internationally, the album is available and distributed by Universal Music Group.
