The James Brandon Lewis trio’s full length LP ‘Apple Cores’ was released on Feb. 7, 2025 via Anti- records. Josh Werner provided the low end for the album, co-produced it and co-wrote it along with the mighty James Brandon Lewis and legendary drummer Chad Taylor.

Apple Cores take its name from poet and jazz theorist Amiri Baraka’s Downbeat magazine column from the ‘60s. In addition to Baraka, the influence of another jazz giant looms mightily over Apple Cores: trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist, Don Cherry.

From Josh: This recording was a collective compositional process, which occurred over the course of two intense entirely improvised sessions. Here is a link to the streaming and official purchase sites, please reach out if you’d like buy a copy from me personally.
