Rock legend Suzi Quatro topped up her bass collection of over 50 years. Her latest addition is a Jawbone JJ from Austrian custom builder BITE Guitars. BITE head Wolfgang Maderthaner, “We felt very honored to build a bass for Suzi. She and her son Richard Tuckey are a wonderful team, they record and tour together, and they designed this bass together. A Jawbone with two BITE high-output single coils in Dakota Red with black flowers artwork. An exciting premiere for us, as we hadn’t done Dakota Red before.”

According to Wolfgang, there’s a peculiarity about old Cadillac colors. Car painters have them well specified whereas guitar manufacturers take quite some liberties with these colors, so in guitars you’ll find a whole range of different Dakota Reds. This is why BITE has an RGB color picking tool on https://bite.guitars/bw/#colors that offers customers over 16 million individual colors to choose from.

Wolfgang adds, “With Suzi’s bass we tried to hit the sweet spot of Dakota Reds. Could be that we nailed it, after all Suzi liked the look of the bass so much that she keeps it in her front room where she’s working on her songs and books. Whoever wants to have a front row glimpse into her life, I recommend her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Suziquatrorocks where she writes little newsflashes on a daily basis.”

Glam rock sensation Suzi Quatro had her first #1 hit back in 1972, she sold over 50 million records and is still recording and touring. Her current album The Devil In Me was released in March 2021, information on http://www.suziquatro.com/.
