Instrumental wizards Soften The Glare (featuring legendary Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie) have released a new video/single titled, “Left-Handed Lion”. The video, produced and directed by Nick Shinz (Job for a Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage, Havok) and K. Hunter Lamar (Nuclear Power Trio, Allegaeon), showcases the cinematic interplay of the band’s expansive and dynamically nuanced compositional writing. Guitarist Bon Lozaga commented, “As usual…our songs seem to come to life on their own, despite us. Jimi was the inspiration, and evolution took care of the rest…surprise, surprise- what a fitting video for this song! Left-handed, indeed”. Drummer Mitch Hull added, “Left-Handed Lion comes in with a roar and takes you on a trip…it has many twists and turns and the video reflects this perfectly.”

The track is one of three recorded throughout 2021 at various locations including Jamie King Audio, Big Rude Studios with engineer Chase O’Neal, and Legitimate Business with Kris Hilbert. The songs were once again mixed and mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionists, etc) who recorded and produced the bands previous works. The band plan to release the 3 new songs (one even including a guest vocalist) in addition to 5 re-worked songs from their debut album, “Making Faces”, as a special-edition vinyl package in 2022. The re-worked tracks including both string and horn accompaniments to the compositions, in addition to other instrumentation. The band also intends to release more videos with director’s Nick Shinz and K. Hunter Lamar in the coming months.
