Dr. Randall Kertz Releases ‘The Bassist’s Guide to Injury Management, Prevention and Better Health: Volume Two’

As a sequel to the acclaimed Volume One, Volume Two presents all new material

Randall Kertz, D.C. (Dr. Randy to us fellow bassists grateful for his longtime commitment to our health) has released The Bassist’s Guide to Injury Management, Prevention and Better Health: Volume Two, a follow up to his popular 2005 first volume (updated and expanded in 2017). Over four extensive chapters with helpful photos, Kertz covers such topics as the all-important mental aspect of playing; a dozen common conditions encountered by bassists, and how to treat them; technique and posture for electric bass and double bass, both standing and sitting; and interviews with a cross range of pros like John Patitucci, Stu Hamm, and Ariane Capp, who offer their tips and experiences. Kertz, who also designed and developed the Recoil Strap with David Ellefson for Gruv Gear, continues to be a tireless advocate for an essential but oft-overlooked side of being a bass player.

Written by a bass player for bass players, The Bassist’s Guide to Injury Management, Prevention and Better Health – Volume Two picks up where Volume One left off. As a sequel to the acclaimed Volume One, Volume Two presents all new material, and like its predecessor is designed to point out common and not so common problems that the musician may encounter during practice or performing situations.
