Today AC/DC have made two big announcements. The first being that they are embarking on their first tour in eight years. The second, is that with the departure of longtime bassist Cliff Williams, the band will welcome veteran studio and touring ace Chris Chaney to their lineup. Chaney just wrapped up work with Ozzy Osbourne and appeared at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards with Miley Cyrus, and is best known for his work with Jane’s Addiction, Alanis Morissette, Shakira, Elton John, Slash, and many others.
The band made the announcement on their website, “We are thrilled to finally announce the ‘POWER UP’ European Tour. Angus, Brian, Stevie, and Matt will be joined by Chris Chaney to carry the torch for Cliff. The tour will see us play shows across Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, England, Slovakia, Belgium, France & Ireland this Summer. We can’t wait to see you all out there.”
The tour announcement comes after a week of teases on AC/DC’s social media pages. The 21-date outing kicks off in May 17th in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and runs through an August 17th show in Dublin, Ireland. Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 16th.
