Half Heard Voices have havejust releasedthe first single, “Earning Your Evil”, from their forthcoming album Moon Burial. Bassist Stefan Sandman sat down to demonstrate his playing on the new single.

The track showcases the band delving into faster tempos and lower tunings (Drop-G). As on previous tracks, Half Heard Voices answer every brutally chaotic verse with a moment of melodic choral release. After 2019’s Dissidence and 2021’s Twelve Way War, both EPs, Moon Burial is slated to be the band’s first full-length LP. The record will also feature special performances from major label guest artists.

This February, Half Heard Voices have just returned from their portion of the Unhealthy Mechanisms Tour, running alongside Nuclear Blast Records artist, Go Ahead And Die. In 2023, the band toured with legendary Max Cavalera outfit, Soulfly, as part of the US Totem Tour. This March 2024, Half Heard Voices announce their first international range of dates for later this year.

Stefan Sandman is both bassist and co-producer of American progressive metal band Half Heard Voices. As a founding member of the group, Sandman has compiled a collection of bass playthrough videos spanning the band’s entire catalog. The latest performance being on his Solar bass, an AB2.4C Baritone model. Strung up with Kalium heavy gauge strings (Drop-G tuning) and played forcefully with a pick, the Solar proved itself as the the perfect guttural bass tone in the studio and across the forthcoming album.
