The Rachel Eckroth Quartet to Release Live Album Featuring Billy Mohler on Bass

From Rachel Eckroth: I recently recorded a live record with a world class quartet at LA’s most forward thinking Jazz Club and record label, Sam First. After a successful two night run this fall, with a state-of-the-art recording setup, I’m excited to say we’ve made a great record.

In my family, being a musician was the identity – we were musicians. I even had a shirt when I was 3 years old that said, ‘I Love Music’ – it just was. I so strongly wanted to be a singer on the radio, and the feeling I was putting out was like ‘nothing can stop me’.

Decades later, I still find myself wanting to explore that innate sense of musical identity without boundaries, and felt that this live album would be the perfect opportunity for that. So, in October, I assembled a band of like-minded collaborators– guitarist Andrew Renfroe, bassist Billy Mohler and drummer Tina Raymond– and recorded two wonderful nights of live performance at Sam First in LA, using their state-of-the-art analog recording setup.

I chose music that’s less about the art of the composition and more about the arc of the improvised sections, allowing the band to communicate with more space and breath. Now, I’d like to bring you into the conversation and invite you to become a part of the process as we move this beautifully recorded new album into all its stages of production, and eventually, to your stereos via digital download and 180-gram vinyl LPs.

Besides the high quality recording, participation at various levels gets you access to a private lesson, cool video content including a “narrated listening guide” which gives you an insider’s scoop on the ten songs that were most influential to my career, and even a private concert with me and my trio.

Participate to become an essential part of this musical journey.
