Tech 21’s SansAmp RBI rackmount has undergone a cosmetic update, keeping its inner workings and functionality intact. Harkening back to Tech 21’s first product, the SansAmp Classic, it revisits the original logo from 1989 and incorporates more modern hardware for powering up.
Like many of Tech 21’s products, the SansAmp RBI hasn’t changed since its introduction, which was in January 2001. For over 21 years, bass players of all levels have relied upon the 100% analog SansAmp RBI, including A-list artists such as Geddy Lee (until, of course, the development of his own Signature SansAmp rack, the GED-2112).
In short, the SansAmp RBI is a rackmount version of the SansAmp Bass Driver DI with expanded features including an effects loop with a Mix 50/50 switch for series or parallel operation, rear 1/4” input and XLR output with selectable levels, buffered uneffected XLR output to run a dry signal to a separate channel, and footswitch input and output. Tone-shaping controls include Drive (for gain and overdrive), Presence (for upper harmonic content and attack), Blend (for the ratio of direct instrument signal and SansAmp circuitry), and 3-band active EQ.
For studio and live applications, Tech 21’s proprietary SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation technology enables you to go straight into the mixer of a recorder or PA system via the XLR Direct Output. From vintage to modern, the SansAmp RBI delivers a truckload of the most desirable, big tube amp sounds, and does so even at low volume.
