A Fusion Celebration: A Fundraiser for KPFK 90.7 FM
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 · Doors 6:30 PM · Show 7:30 PM
The Alex Theatre, Glendale, CA

Jazz, rock, funk and world music share a stage for one night at the Alex Theatre, the way KPFK has carried them on one frequency since 1959.

All-star lineup including
Danny Carey · Stanley Clarke · Sheila E. · Michelle Coltrane · Petra Haden · John Densmore · Robby Krieger · Rudy Sarzo · Marlon Martinez · Salar Nader

With the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center Youth Orchestra, whose young musicians from South Los Angeles share the bill with members of The Doors. More artists and special guests to be announced.

50 years of School Days

The evening also marks 50 years of School Days. Released in 1976, the album changed the role of the bass guitar, proving the instrument could step out from the rhythm section and lead as a melodic voice, and it remains one of the most influential fusion records ever made.

A lineup this varied doesn’t assemble by accident, and it doesn’t assemble for just anyone. These artists are here because a listener-supported station in Los Angeles has spent six decades playing music that commercial radio wouldn’t touch.

VIP Reception, 6:00 PM · $150

An hour before doors, the Alex’s multi-level reception spaces open, indoors and out. Light refreshments, a drink ticket, and a cash bar. Then you take your seat before the room fills.

The VIP Experience includes early entry and dedicated check-in, the commemorative 50th anniversary program book, your name listed in the program book as a 50th Anniversary Supporter, on-air acknowledgment on KPFK 90.7 FM, and a one-year KPFK membership.

Limited to 150 guests. Must be purchased with a concert ticket; does not include admission on its own.

Where the money goes

KPFK 90.7 FM is Los Angeles’ listener-sponsored independent radio station and a service of Pacifica Foundation, Inc., on the air since 1959. Proceeds keep the signal on: transmitter operations at Mount Wilson, local production, and the archive.
