The inaugural Sick New World Festival went down on Saturday, May 13th in Las Vegas and we were there to bring you all of the bass happenings

The first Sick New World festival from C3 Presents, the team behind When We Were Young, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza, took place at the Las Vegas festival grounds Saturday May 13th. Even with the 90 degree Vegas heat, fans were lined up even before gates opened up and down Sahara blvd. This sold out festival brought together many of the biggest names in Metal and Hard Rock. There was a total of 53 bands across four stages in a concert that spanned over 12 hours. In order to pack that many bands into one day the two main stages (Purple and Green) had back-to-back performances. As one performance was going on one stage the other being set up for the next band so that one performance could end with another beginning right after. As for the other two stages (Spiral and Sick) which hosted the majority of the lineup had revolving stages.

The first band of the day was Scowl (Bailey Lupo) on the Sick Stage at 11:35 A.M. The final bands on Green and Purple were Korn and System of a Down and the final bands of the day were The Sisters of Mercy at 11 P.M. (Spiral) and Cradle of Filth Daniel Filth) at 11:15 P.M. (Sick Stage). Throughout the 12.5 hours of the festival there were many bass greats including SOAD’s Shavo Odadjian, Korn’s Ra Diaz, Emma Anzai (Evanescence), “Freaky” Franz Lyons (Turnstile), Fred Sablan (Deftones), Kemble Walters (Chevelle), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle), Tobin Esperance (Papa Roach), Mike Leon (Soulfly), Traa Daniels (P.O.D.), Nadja Peulen (Coal Chamber), Stefan Olsdal (Placebo), Vince Hornsby (Sevendust), Jesse Charland (Hoobastank), Steven Shane McDonald (Melvins), and Vincent Price (Body Count).
