My Chemical Romance announce The Black Parade (20th Anniversary), arriving October 23 on Reprise Records. The expanded reissue celebrates two decades of a monumental work that has since been RIAA-certified 4x Platinum, ranked among Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” and inspired fans and artists across generations and genres. My Chemical Romance shares – “Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become ‘The Black Parade,’ our third record and the follow up to ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.’ At the time, we could never have imagined what the record would mean for the band. All we knew is that we had made something crazy, and something we couldn’t wait to get it out into the world. 

Today, twenty years on, we celebrate its release. For the first time, we have included everything we finished during those sessions in a single collection. 

As importantly, we asked James Jean to revisit the world of The Black Parade and create three new pieces of art. What he has crafted is a beautiful collection of a few iconic characters from the record during that era. James is truly a one-of-a-kind artist, and so important to how this record was presented to the world. We are extremely grateful for meeting him all those years ago, and agreeing now to make something new. 

Our hope is that you enjoy this collection of music and illustrations as much as we do, because we wanted to honor how timeless and enduring you’ve allowed it to be.

To ring in the news, My Chemical Romance are sharing the bonus track “The Sharpest Lives (Live from Hoboken),” now in streaming audio for the first time, alongside a standalone video of the performance, which was previously captured exclusively on the DVD portion of band’s 2008 live collection The Black Parade Is Dead! The raw and visceral visual drops viewers into My Chemical Romance’s hometown rock club — the late, legendary, 200-capacity Maxwell’s — during the original The Black Parade Tour on October 24, 2007. The Black Parade (20th Anniversary) includes the full album alongside six bonus tracks — two more from the Hoboken show, previously unreleased on LP, CD, or streaming, and three fan-favorite B-sides previously scattered across different releases, including never-before-released “Someone Out There Loves You.” The My Chemical Romance store is currently offering a limited number of autographed cassettes, CDs, and 2LP vinyl in the store-exclusive Bloodline Red colorway. 

Additional 2LP versions include: a Baby Pink color vinyl variant; at Hot Topic in the U.S. and HMV in the U.K., Black & Tan “Galaxy” color vinyl; and a high-quality, one-step, 180g black vinyl. The 1LP options include a store-exclusive hologram vinyl edition featuring a laser-etched hologram of James Jean’s original album LP in a gatefold jacket with a removable O-card, new art insert and printed inner sleeve and a Concrete Grey colorway. The One Step vinyl package, limited to only 7,000 copies, was created using the original analog master recording; the 2LPs are pressed on 180g High Definition D2 vinyl and include the bonus track “Someone Out There Loves You (Live).” Special care has been taken to faithfully preserve the original sound with exceptional clarity and depth, capturing the recording nuances at every step.

The announcement comes as My Chemical Romance continue their blockbuster, critically acclaimed The Black Parade 2026 Tour, which reaches San Antonio’s Alamodome this weekend. A full-on theatrical production complete with costumes, characters, stage design, additional performers, and pyrotechnics, the show is divided into two parts. The first, set in the fictional authoritarian world of Draag, sees the band performing all of The Black Parade from front to back. The second takes place on a B-stage as they play beloved songs from throughout their career.

Following the band’s recent European run, Rolling Stone wrote, “My Chemical Romance bring Wembley Stadium to its knees,” while Louder Sound raved, “MCR do more with fans’ ticket money than any other band of their generation.” Kerrang!profess, “MCR’s dystopian extravaganza is a masterful exercise in world-building.” All told, after launching in the summer of 2025, the global tour has logged a total attendance of 1,895,000 fans and counting.

The U.S. leg of The Black Parade 2026 Tour continues into the fall, concluding over a historic five-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl — something no other artist has accomplished — that wraps up on Halloween night. After that, My Chemical Romance will continue on to Asia. After its release in 2026, The Black Parade hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Tastemaker Albums, catapulting the New Jersey-bred group into the mainstream.
