Snarky Puppy Performing Live

Michael League always has his hands in a number of musical projects at all times, and 2026 finds him just as busy as ever between his various outlets. From putting out a new album (Somni) with Snarky Puppy and hitting the road for a subsequent tour, to releasing an record with drummer Antonio Sánchez and vocalist Pedro Martinez called Ellipsis, to having recently hosted his 10thannual GroundUP Music Festival in Miami, Florida, there’s simply no let up in League.

Aside from writing and producing music, serving as a bandleader, label owner, and musical director, education has always been a high priority to League. He has hosted many camps, imparting his firsthand knowledge to fans and the next generation of musicians. To further this, he recently announced his inaugural Snarky Puppy Rabbit Hole camp through Dreamcatcher, which spans four days in Tarrytown, New York (about 25 miles north of New York City) and gives attendees a hand’s-on experience with the writing and creation process.

Featuring Snarky Puppy, Becca Stevens, Charlie Hunter, Varijashree Venugopal, and dare we say it, the great Pino Palladino, League and company will be working directly with the attendees on musical exploration and will also be performing for the intimate group. Limited to 200 participants, this is a way to get closer than ever to these masters and get an inside look into their process.

Tell us a little bit about the Rabbit Hole camp.

It’s four days of creative immersion in which we will seek to explore the music making process in 360 degrees—from philosophy to technique to business and everything in between.

What inspired this camp?

Snarky Puppy is a band full of educators, so creating a situation where we could focus 100% on music education for an extended period of time has always been a dream of ours.

What do you mainly want attendees to take from this camp?

I want them to leave feeling inspired. If we do our job, they’ll see music in a different way that they can then carry on into their own playing.

You landed Pino Palladino to participate, which is rare. What role will he play in the camp?

He will appear as a guest clinician. There are so many things to learn from what he has to offer that I can’t even guess how his contributions will play out.

Charlie Hunter is appearing as well. What can bass players learn from him?

Charlie is a gold mine of musical knowledge. He has a mastery of the tradition and is as in tune with his intuition as anyone I have ever met. Beyond that, his sound and feel are inimitable.

What can bass players expect from the Rabbit Hole?

At least four different perspectives on how to approach the instrument, from concept to execution.

You have some amazing drummers and percussionists coming, with Jason “JT” Thomas and Nate Werth. What kind of rhythm section focus will the camp have?

The rhythm section is the backbone of the band. JT and Nate will explore all of the different possibilities for these instruments, both individually and collectively.

You’ve organized and hosted a number of educational and experiential camps like this. What do you love about educating and inspiring musicians in this way?

Selfishly, I learn as much through teaching as I do through studying. There’s always something new to discover. But I also think it’s our responsibility to pass on what we know through our experiences so that the next generations of musicians can build upon it.

Snarky Puppy will be performing at the camp. What can we expect from it?

When we play, we never know what to expect, so I couldn’t possibly take a guess now.

What is your message for those attending or interested in this camp?

To keep an open mind and open ears. There’s going to be a lot to take in!
