Macmull Custom Guitars Unveils JB-Classic, PB-Classic and Lauren Basses

Three new models are now available, each with the feel and character of exceptional vintage basses

First unveiled at NAMM 2025, the JB-Classic and PB-Classic are now officially available to order. Both instruments were created from Macmull’s obsession with the sound, feel and character of exceptional vintage basses—not to simply reproduce the past, but to capture what made those instruments inspiring and carry it forward.

Every detail matters: the resonance of the wood, the shape of the neck, the response of the pickups and the way the instrument feels the moment it is placed in a player’s hands. Each bass is built with carefully selected materials, traditional construction methods and Macmull’s hand-wound pickups.

“When we build an instrument, we want it to feel alive. It should respond to the player, inspire confidence and make it difficult to put down. These basses are our way of honoring the great instruments of the past while building something personal for the musician who will own it.”

JB-Classic

The JB-Classic is Macmull’s interpretation of one of the most expressive and versatile bass designs ever created. It delivers the depth, definition and dynamic response associated with an exceptional vintage instrument, together with the precision and consistency of a modern custom build.

From warm, rounded lows to articulate upper-mid detail, the JB-Classic is designed to respond naturally to the player’s touch and sit effortlessly within a mix.

PB-Classic

Inspired by the iconic P-Basses of the 1950s and 1960s, the PB-Classic is built around a huge, woody voice with a focused low end and unmistakable fundamental punch.

Simple, direct and deeply musical, it is designed for players who want every note to feel substantial. The result is an instrument that can anchor a track with authority while retaining the warmth and character associated with the finest vintage basses.
