The Immediate Family will be releasing their highly anticipated full-length, self-titled album on August 27th via Quarto Valley Records. Produced by the band, the new album features twelve original songs plus two bonus tracks: live versions of the Danny Kortchmar/Jackson Browne collaboration โSomebodyโs Babyโ and Warren Zevonโs โJohnny Strikes Up the Band.โ The first single/video, โFair Warning,โ will be released in July.
Recorded over three days at Jackson Browneโs studio in Los Angeles, the new album kicks off with a blast of electric guitars with the lead track โCanโt Stop Progress.โ The fiery three-guitar interplay intertwines throughout the rest of the album on songs like โFair Warning,โ โTime to Come Clean,โ and โTurn it up to Ten.โ The bandโs love of rock โn rollโs roots surfaces in the funky, bluesy tones of โSlippinโ and Slidin,โ โEverything Thatโs Broken,โ and the Brill Building-esque โDamage.โ
This iconic supergroup have played together for decades but never as their own band. Known for their long, illustrious careers backing up Hall of Fame artists such as James Taylor, Keith Richards, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, Stevie Nicks and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, guitarists Danny Kortchmar and Waddy Wachtel, drummer Russ Kunkel, and bassist Leland Sklar have come together, along with guitarist Steve Postell, to perform their own songs as The Immediate Family.
โWe are very proud of the people weโve gotten to work with,โ Kortchmar states, โbut weโre also thrilled to now be playing our own music.โ Wachtel concurs: โItโs too wonderful for words. I didnโt see this coming, and now I canโt imagine it having not happened.โ
The release of The Immediate Family comes on the heels of two previous EPs, Slippin and Slidinโ (which debuted at #6 on Billboardโs Blue Chart) and Canโt Stop Progress. The band will be touring in the Fall following the release of the new album. The initial dates are listed below with more shows to be announced.
Production continues on The Immediate Family documentary by filmmaker Danny Tedesco (The Wrecking Crew), expected to be released in 2022. The band also recently recorded new material at Henson Studios (formerly A&M Studios) in Los Angeles.

About The Immediate Family
The Immediate Family (the modern iteration of a legendary studio ensemble known as โThe Sectionโ) is a rock and roll band composed of four of the most recorded, respected, and sought-after players in modern music: Danny Kortchmar (guitar and vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and the addition of prominent touring, session guitarist and songwriter Steve Postell (guitar and vocals). Frequent collaborators both in the studio and on-stage, their work can be heard on albums from Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, Warren Zevon, Graham Nash, Neil Young, David Crosby, and many, many, many more. Kortchmar, Sklar, and Kunkel have worked together since the early 70s and made up three-quarters of The Section, best known for both their studio and live work in support of some of the top-selling singer/songwriters and solo singers in the history of music, as well as their own acclaimed instrumental albums. (By mid-70s, they were later joined by Wachtel). Collectively, these musicians helped define the sound of a generation.
Leland Sklar has performed in the studio and on tour with Phil Collins, James Taylor, Toto, and Billy Cobham, to name a few. Actually, Sklar has the most credits of any of the Immediate Family members, having worked on over 2,600 albums.
Danny Kortchmarโs credits as guitarist, producer, songwriter, and session musician include work with James Taylor, Don Henley, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, and Billy Joel, among many others. As a songwriter, Kortchmar has both written alone or collaborated with numerous artists, penning indelible tracks such as Don Henleyโs โDirty Laundry,โ โAll She Wants to Do Is Dance,โ and โNew York Minute,โ as well as Jackson Browneโs โSomebodyโs Babyโ and โShaky Town,โ to name a few.
Legendary guitarist, producer, and songwriter Waddy Wachtel has worked with many of the same artists as Kortchmar, as well as artists like the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, Randy Newman, Bryan Ferry, and the late Warren Zevon, with whom he co-wrote and produced many hit songs including โWerewolves of London,โ which The Immediate Family has included in their setlist. Wachtelโs production work includes Keith Richards, Bryan Ferry, George Thorogood, and The Church, and he has composed numerous scores for feature films.
Russ Kunkelโs credits include Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Lyle Lovett, and dozens more. He has created and co-produced film scores for Mike Nicholsโ Heartburn, Joyce Chopraโs Smooth Talk, and New World Filmsโ Certain Fury. Production work includes Clannad, Jimmy Buffett, The Derek Trucks Band, Dan Fogelberg, Aaron Neville, and others.
Steve Postell is a seasoned touring and session player who has worked with David Crosby, Jennifer Warnes, Michael McDonald, John Oates, Robben Ford, and many others. He recorded and mixed the final 3 performances of Ravi Shankar and has scored films including โDying To Knowโ about Timothy Leary & Ram Dass and narrated by Robert Redford. He has released several solo records, including the critically acclaimed โTime Still Knockinโโ on Immergent Records.
The Immediate Family is signed with industry veterans David A. Helfant of Arpeggio Entertainment and Fred Croshal of Croshal Entertainment Group for personal management.
