Acclaimed bassist and composer John Ferrara is proud to announce, “A Catalyst for Change”, a vibrant showcase of his innovative playing style — blending slap bass and intricate two-handed tapping into a sound that is as melodically expressive as it is rhythmically captivating.

In a departure from much of his previous work, “A Catalyst for Change” shines in a major key, giving the music a brighter tone and an emotional sense of optimism. The title reflects a vision of unity and shared humanity — a reminder that, even in challenging times, music can bridge divides and inspire positive change.

“For me, ‘A Catalyst for Change’ is about sparking unity, empathy, and understanding in these very divisive times,” Ferrara explains. “It’s about building connections and fostering hope.”

The single offers a preview of Ferrara’s third studio album, Skinned Knees and Make Believe, which will be released on September 6, 2025, on all streaming platforms, digital download, and vinyl. Recorded near Costa Rica’s Corcovado National Park, the album features the ambient sounds of jungle and ocean woven into its compositions — a sonic reflection of the environment that inspired its performances.
