Augusts 24th’s sold-out show in Chicago at The Allstate Arena was a thrilling showcase of Rock mastery headlined by Incubus, featuring Coheed and Cambria. This was the second show of the run (first being in Detroit) and it was epic, due to the incredible work of Nicole Row and Zach Cooper. Both bands have been rocking for over 25+ years, but these two really reminded us why they’re still at the top of their game.
Zach Cooper of Coheed and Cambria opened the show and delivered a masterclass in bass playing. His performance was phenomenal, perfectly complementing their complex progressive rock sound. Cooper’s skillful playing added so much depth to their music and showed off his technical prowess. Zach was rocking with his four string Yamaha BBP34s with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders Pickups (which he has both pickups wired to a single volume knob only). He is playing through an Aguilar DB751 and an Aguilar DB810 cab. Zach mentioned several pedals he is using while on the Bass Nerds Podcast. Some of those pedals are from CMC Audio, Bowman Audio Endeavors, Mantic Effects with Ernie Ball Strings.
Up next was Nicole Row who was absolutely on fire with Incubus. Her bass lines were not just solid but dynamic and had an infectious energy, making it impossible not to groove along. Her intricate playing and rhythm really stood out, adding a whole new level of excitement to their set. Nicole did most of her heavy lifting using her Fender Marcus Miller Jazz bass and a F Bass BN5 all going through a Gallien Krueger Legacy Head with a 410 and 115 GK Neo Cabs. Nicole also mentioned that her favorite pedal is her EBS Phase and she is using LaBella Strings. Side note: Brandon is sounding as good as ever. Both bassists really made their mark and gave the crowd an unforgettable show.
Incubus and Coheed & Cambria are on tour now, its a show that should not be missed. These arena shows are selling out everywhere so run and get your tickets now.
