Twilight Museโ€™s electrifying new live album, Collabs: Live at Garciaโ€™s at The Cap, is out todayโ€”anchored by the release of a brand-new original single and live video for โ€œThe Mayor,โ€ a swampy, groove-heavy anthem featuring legendary bassist George Porter Jr. of The Meters. Recorded live during soundcheck at Garciaโ€™s at The Capitol Theatre, the track captures a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration with one of the architects of New Orleans funk, as Twilight Muse stretches into bold new sonic territory.

โ€œRecording โ€˜The Mayorโ€™ with George Porter Jr. was pure kismet,โ€ says Twilight Museโ€™s Meg Pollaro. โ€œThe early version was more mellowโ€”closer to our debutโ€”but our guitarist Joe Colgan came up with this riff that sounded straight out of New Orleans. We joked, โ€˜Itโ€™s like The Meters!โ€™ Then suddenly, we were booked to open for George and he graciously agreed to play bass on the song. It came together like magic.โ€

live performance video of โ€œThe Mayorโ€ is out now, offering a raw and joyful glimpse into the trackโ€™s birthโ€”funky riffs, rich vocal interplay, and the unmistakable groove of a living legend laying it down with a rising band. It follows the release of the bandโ€™s fiery reinterpretation of โ€œLiving for the City,โ€ featuring Robert Randolph and G. Love, which helped set the stage for this collaborative live album.

The full album Collabs: Live at Garciaโ€™s at The Cap captures the groupโ€™s jam-forward energy and collaborative spirit, with guest appearances from John Popper, members of The Soul RebelsRobert Randolph & G. Love, and Sierra Green. The album was recorded during a run of high-energy shows at Garciaโ€™s, the intimate front room of the Capitol Theatre thatโ€™s become a hub for improvisational and roots-influenced music.

โ€œThis album is about spontaneity and gratitude,โ€ the band shares. โ€œThe collabs pushed our sound in directions we never imaginedโ€”and theyโ€™ve inspired us to write a whole new wave of music that leans into that groove.โ€

Twilight Museโ€™s evocative and intriguingly layered name speaks to the group’s artistic perspective. Founded by singer-songwriter Meg Pollaro and singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Andrew Shapiro, Twilight Muse writes, records, and performs alluring songs that range from indie rock to soul and funk – and plays reimagined covers of some of your favorite tunes.  Since launching the project in 2023, the founders have enlisted a stellar band (Alan Cockern, Joe Colgan, Rich Monopoli, Todd Nocera, and Simon Wasserberger), which has joined the duo in writing new songs including โ€˜The Mayor.โ€™

Twilight Museโ€™s debut album, A Moment Out of Time (2023), was produced by Dan Mackenzie (Joss Stone, Martin Sexton), Will Baker (Slide Studios, Brooklyn), and Jason Cummings (Cutting Room).  The release earned praise for its lush, introspective storytelling and dynamic sound – with Relix praising its โ€œblend of poetic lyricism, atmospheric soundscapes, and harmonious vocal interplay.โ€ Following the albumโ€™s release, Twilight Muse hit the live-music circuit hard, building a reputation for spellbinding performances and electrifying collaborations.

Twilight Muse will return to Garciaโ€™s for a special late-night set on May 8th, following Little Feat at The Capitol Theatre. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit .
