Fuchs Audio Technology has introduced the FTDI-1, the first in an upcoming series of studio and sound reinforcement products. A mic preamp and other studio and pro-sound products are in the works.
Andy has years of experience as a working musician, as well as servicing and tweaking guitar and bass amps for many famous clients as diverse as Carlos Santana through jammers like Jimmy Herring, including jazz legends like Dave Stryker and Vic Juris for over 40 years. Fuchs’ 20-year list of reviews and endorsers is truly impressive to say the least.
While there are many choices in tube DI units, the Fuchs FT-DI combines tube warmth with a small footprint that’s perfect for pedalboards and uses 9 volt power. A switch mode power supply takes the incoming 9 volts up to 300 volts, running the tube at proper “True High Voltage” © The unit uses the ubiquitous 12AX7 and the units ship with selected low noise Ruby Tubes. The FTDI both American made and is one of the most affordable units in the market at $ 599.00 MAP.
The FTDI-1 features quarter inch input and a ¼” buffered “through” output, an Edcor transformer balanced output, all via Neutrik connectors.
Small and light, (downright diminutive) the unit features a lit window displaying the 12AX7 audio tube, which is powered by a regulated switch-mode power supply that will run of any pedal power supply capable of 500ma at 9 volts. Small, cool running, low noise and musical.
