After more than a decade break, Avery has rejoined Jane's Addiction in the studio as they prepare their upcoming album

Jane’s Addiction has been making headlines lately in anticipation of their upcoming “Spirits on Fire” tour with Smashing Pumpkins, but the bigger news that the music world is buzzing about is the reemergence of original bassist Eric Avery.

Through posts on Twitter and Instagram, Avery can be seen in the studio playing with frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins. Farrell’s wife, Etty, posted the photo below, which Avery reposted with the caption “It’s On.”

In an Instagram post by Avery (below), the bassist comments, “Today marks the end of our current sessions. Four promising new song ideas. Big thanks to you all for all the kind words of support. It leaves me feeling inspired. Honestly. It produces the best kind of pressure, your passion leaves me determined to do all I can for Jane’s Addiction.”

Avery founded Jane’s Addiction with Farrell in 1985 and later welcomed Perkins and guitarist Dave Navarro to the lineup. The band split up in the early ’90’s, but regrouped from 2008-2010 with Avery, until his departure welcomed bassist Chris Chaney to the lineup, which is a position he held until earlier this year.

No official statement from the band has confirmed Avery’s role in the upcoming tour or on any studio recordings. Their 32-date North American tour kicks off on October 2nd in Dallas, Texas and runs through mid-November.

Stay tuned for more details.
