Fender Releases the California Series Kingman Acoustic Bass

Originally launched in 2018, the California SeriesTMacoustics evoke the west coast spirit of adventure and freedom, inviting musicians to explore their individual creativity and disrupt the status quo. In 2021, the California Minis arrived and served a big punch in a smaller-sized acoustic guitar. Whether you’re a young, aspiring player looking for a smaller instrument or simply looking for a top-notch guitar that’s easy to travel with, the Sonoran Mini and Redondo Mini have you covered. Delivering the tone of a full sized guitar, they also come with the same premium features.

With a new model, new features and finish options introduced in 2023, the Monterey Standard, California Player and California Special models represent the evolution and refinement of modern Fender acoustics, mixing iconic Fender electric playability with all-solid wood construction within the Special models and best-in-class electronics. A crossroads of past, present, and future, these instruments truly resonate differently.

The all new 2023 Fender California Vintage models draw directly from their mid-century origins with a retro visual vibe, adding 21st century performance and a rich, refined acoustic tone- a true modern alternative with classic Fender heritage – recreations of the same models designed by Leo Fender in the early 1960s.

Bold, eye-catching and unique, California Series instruments make no compromises balancing standout style, superior sound and effortless playability for those who aspire to play something different.

Crafted with an X-braced solid spruce top and sapele back and sides, the compact mid-sized auditorium body of the Kingman Bass produces a deep, punchy and articulate tone and features a cutaway for convenient access to the upper frets. The bound nato neck is elegantly appointed with block inlays and is designed with a slim “C”-shape Jazz Bass profile, an easy-to-play short 30” scale length, comfortable 1.5” nut width and a 4-in-line headstock for a distinctive look born from Fender’s electric bass DNA.

Other notable details include open-gear vintage-style tuning machines for smooth, accurate tuning, a GraphTech NuBone nut and saddle for focused fundamental tone and a Fishman Presys+ preamp system that allows detailed fine-tuning of the bass’s amplified sound when performing or recording. Available in Shaded Edge Burst.
