Divinity Roxx to Release Children’s Album and Picture Books

"Ready Set Go!" is a celebration of self-love and positivity specifically designed for kids aged 8 and under

This fall brings the release of Ready Set Go!, the energetic debut family album from the internationally acclaimed, award-winning bassist and songwriter, Divinity Roxx, out November 5.

Ready Set Go! is a celebration of self-love and positivity specifically designed for kids aged 8 and under. The upbeat and sunny collection features 8 original songs filled with powerful messages that encourage kids to become the best versions of themselves.

Divinity Roxx made her entrance into the family music scene earlier this year and instantly gained attention with her infectious bass beats and unique approach to meaningful music for kids and families. She’s toured the world and played with masters like Beyoncé and Victor Wooten, and now the immense talent is turning her attention to the audience that matters most.

“I’ve always wanted to make meaningful music that inspires people to feel empowered and supported. This album gave me an opportunity to write songs that not only make kids move their bodies, but also stimulate their minds with positive affirmations that I hope they’ll lean into for years to come.” says Divinity. “I also think its important to be a mirror for kids who don’t often see positive images of themselves out in the world, especially in family entertainment spaces. This project afforded me the opportunity to not only be a mirror but also a window into which kids can see an encouraging example of someone they may not have close access to in their own lives.”

The title track “Ready Set Go!” is a fun and empowering bop that inspires children to start each day with a positive attitude, to see themselves achieving their goals, and to build self-esteem to guide them toward accomplishments. The next steps, Divinity says, are to put on a smile, add a dash of confidence, the right attitude, and then you’re ready to Go! The theme of self-esteem continues on the funk filled “Be Yourself” which encourages kids to celebrate their individuality, love themselves, and dance, dance, dance. “Just When U Think” features Alphabet Rockers and hip-hop legend Bahamadia and acknowledges that we all think about giving up sometimes, but that we all have the power to persist.

“Me + U” is a groove that offers young children an opportunity to engage with different family structures, emphasizing that no matter what your family may look like, we are all part of the human family. “Feeling Good”, with guest artist Fyütch, delivers a serious dose of positivity, blending the best elements of hip-hop together to make for a sing-a-long that lifts the spirit. Love, Love, Love” is a bilingual song featuring 123 Andres. It’s about how love can be complicated but luckily in this song, love wins every time. The retro vibed “Happy and Healthy” is an engaging song created to support socio-emotional and physical wellness. Closing out the album is “Saturday” a days of the week anthem with Yani Marin. Saturday is a favorite day of the week as it’s often the day families are able to get out and experience the world together, while most days of the week are for working, Saturday is truly the day to play.

Ready, Set, Go! will be available November 5 streaming on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and anywhere families are searching for great music. The songs were composed, produced and performed by Divinity Roxx.

The lyrics of two of the songs from the album, ‘Happy & Healthy’ (11/15/21) and ‘Me + You,’ (12/1/21) are being released and published as picture books by Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, as part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to provide authentic and inclusive books to support family and community engagement. The books are illustrated by NaShantá Fletcher.
