Renowned bassist and composer Brad Russell announces the release of his explosive new EP, “The Righteous Kid,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Known for his virtuosic technique and genre-spanning collaborations, Russell once again pushes the envelope with a six-track collection that blends high-octane rock, funk, and prog sensibilities.

A bassist with credits ranging from Joe Satriani to Rick Derringer and the Broadway stage, Brad Russell brings decades of performance mastery and studio wizardry to this solo outing. “The Righteous Kid” showcases his fierce playing and melodic instincts, with original compositions that are as thoughtful as they are thunderous.

Russell is joined by longtime collaborator Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr, David Lee Roth) on drums and percussion, whose dynamic grooves elevate each track with punch and precision. The two share an intuitive musical chemistry developed over years of live performances and recording sessions together.

Highlights of the EP include the gritty funk-rock opener “The Righteous Kid,” the contemplative “Human Race,” and a scorching take on the Edgar Winter classic “Free Ride.” Also featured is a daring reimagining of Elton John’s “Rocket Man,” for vocal and bass where Russell’s arrangement delivers unexpected emotion and depth.

The EP was engineered by Dale Grisa and Frank Rosato, with additional thanks to GHS Strings, Hartke Amps, and Steve “Pedalpusher” Toback for technical and creative support.

“This record is a love letter to groove, melody, and the sheer joy of playing bass,” says Russell. “It’s personal, it’s heavy, and it’s a tribute to the incredible musicians I’ve had the privilege to work with.”

The Righteous Kid is available now via Bugsy Music.
