Bootsy Collins is sharing a new video he directed for “Bewise” from his latest album, The Power of the One. Bootsy can be heard on guitar, vocals and percussion with rapper Robert “Bewise” Harding. Full credits are below.
True essence of the funk is the Power of the One, and it all began when James Brown and his musicians dominated the first count of each measure. For Bootsy, “the One” is also a philosophy: “The Power of the One is what pulls us through,” he says. “Everyone has “The One” inside of them. You never know who is using you for guidance, so always be pure and never fake the funk. Everybody’s got a light. Everybody needs to shine.”
“The One” inspired Bootsy to look up his old friend, Robert Harding. “When I was recording The Power of the One I said, now is the time to “Bewise.” We were all on lockdown and able to research and reset the pathways and highways in our minds. I believe the reflections of this song are not judgemental or preaching or talking at you, but rather talking with you. We all have these same humps that we as a people, as a community, as a nation have to get over. The message is clear! “Bewise” and talk with each other. We can work it out, like my man Stevie Wonder said.”
On October 30, 2021, Bootsy will be celebrating his favorite holiday (Halloween) and his 70th birthday (actual birthday October 26) at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cincinnati, Ohio. Limited tickets are available for a special dinner with Bootsy, presented by Stereo Dinner. Tickets and more information can be found here.

An anticipated 3,600 athletes will participate in more than 30 different sports throughout The Games. Tickets are on sale now.
The Power of the One is available now on all streaming services, with vinyl on the way. “Music is always a soother, a healer, and that’s how I want to use this record,” adds Bootsy.
