Mike Hall Releases Debut Solo EP ‘The Next Step’

The EP contains a limited collection of his solo bass arrangements to iconic songs

Born and raised in New Jersey; Mike Hall has gone from performing with some of the biggest names in the music industry, to rising as one of the premier bass players to watch from around the world.

The Next Step is Mike’s debut solo EP, which puts his creativity and skill set on full display. Released independently through his artist name “Mike Hall Bass”; the EP contains a limited collection of his solo bass arrangements to iconic songs, all of which are portrayed like never before.

Conceptualized by circumstance; The Next Step came about after he decided to depart from his 11 year old project “Running Late”, which toured throughout the east coast and performed with the likes of Lifehouse,Switchfoot, Blues Traveler, Blondie, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, The Plain White T’s, Collective Soul, MGMT, Three Doors Down, Sugar Ray, Third Eye Blind, Smash Mouth, and numerous other major label artists.

“Creating a variety of solo bass arrangements that are all unique takes of songs I’ve always loved, was something that I’ve wanted to do for quite some time… but never had the opportunity to accomplish until now.” – Mike Hall

From start to finish; The Next Step demonstrates Mike’s signature style of bass playing that incorporates elements of harmonics, mutes, slapping, and two-hand tapping. Between his solo arrangements of “Sweet Child O’Mine”, “All I Ask of You”, and “Billie Jean”; each song is a masterfully crafted balance of controlled aggression, and tasteful simplicity.

In the few short months since the EP’s release; Mike Hall has already been featured in numerous major publications, such as Bass Musician Magazine, New Jersey Stage, and For Bass Players Only. He has also received an endorsement from Skjold Design Guitars, but one thing is for certain:

This debut EP is only the beginning of much more to come, and it can’t come soon enough.
