Gallien-Krueger Releases New Legacy Series Amplifiers

Coming in 500, 800, and 1200 watt class D models, The Legacy Heads are ready for the biggest stages, intimate studios, and everything in between.

Introducing the Legacy Series

The Legacy Series represents fifty years of design, innovation and industry experience at Gallien-Krueger. Bob Gallien remains at the helm of the company, still working in the lab daily, as he did in the beginning, to create the best sounding, most versatile, and reliable professional bass gear available.

The introduction of the 800RB, in 1980, cemented Gallien-Krueger as a leader in Solid State bass amplification, with its signature growl, clarity, power, and features that were ahead of its time. The new Legacy Series of heads captures that same aesthetic while adding something all its own. From clean, clear, biting tones, to saturated overdrive, the Legacy series has it all. Coming in 500, 800, and 1200 watt class D models, The Legacy Heads are ready for the biggest stages, intimate studios, and everything in between.

The first thing you will notice when plugging into a Legacy is that it sounds fantastic. There is something about its sound that seems natural and flowing, there is nothing getting in the way of what you are working to accomplish. This is due to many innovative design choices developed over several years of research intended to make the Legacy more like a conduit not just an amplifier. This is not the cheapest way to make an amplifier but anyone can make a cheap amp it takes thoughtful design to make a Legacy.

Features include GK’s classic 4 band EQ, Overdrive complete with tone shaping (“Drive”, “Level”, “Edge”), additional voicing filters (“Bump”, “Contour”, and “Presence”), Balanced DI with Pre and Post EQ, an Effects Loop, Aux and Headphone connections, Load capacity selection, to deliver optimum power into 2, 2.7, 4 and 8ohm cabinet configurations, and universal power for 110 volts and 220 volts.

US Manufacturing

In the last three years GK has made significant investments to bring as much of the manufacturing process as possible to our US factory in Stockton, California. We have invested in an automated PCB assembly line enabling us to bring all our circuit board assembly in house, providing improved quality control and reliability. Our new product’s chassis are 100% aluminum finished with very tough black anodize. All the graphics are laser etched into the surface during assembly so they will never fade or wear off. We design and build all our own speakers to match our cabinets achieving exceptional performance and reliability at a reasonable cost. We are working hard, and doing whatever we can to keep manufacturing and jobs in the United States.

New Technology

We have made a major improvement in the manufacturing process by replacing standard interconnecting cables and tin contacts with multilayer circuit boards and gold connectors. Multilayer circuit boards provide built in shielding for sensitive circuits and provide a more pure signal path for your music. Over time standard cables with crimped on tin connectors tend to exhibit failure issues due to various corrosion conditions and are subject to sound pollution and unwanted interference. Over time tin contacts will degrade and gradually affect your sound, while gold connectors do not, keeping your excellent sound year after year. There are many innovations included in the Legacy Series that work together to give you a sound like you have never heard and this attention to detail, technology and manufacturing insures your new Legacy will allow you to express your creations for years to come.
