This futuristic new model combines a number of new and cutting-edge innovations and concepts from a collaborative effort between Mike Bendy, Vinny Fodera, Joey Lauricella, and the Fodera Team. It represents a bold step forward in both sound and design.

The seeds for this project were planted when Mike decided he was ready for his next Fodera and approached the team with an idea for a build that combines his favorite features from the entire line of Fodera instruments. The result is a striking new ‘minimalist’ design that tips its hat to Anthony Jackson with its body shape, ‘semi-carved’ top and Contrabass format, to Matt Garrison with its pickup placement, and to Lincoln Goines with its internal preamp (currently still in development). These features along with the classic Fodera tulip inlays at the 12th fret are a few of the details that pay tribute to his heroes and favorite past design elements.

The Mini MB Presentation is Fodera’s first 31” (short) scale Presentation model. Its compact body style is an adaptation of the AJ Presentation shape modified to fit Mike’s needs as a player. It also incorporates a brand new angled back mini headstock design that allows the truss rod to be easily accessed or removed if necessary. New, individual, string locks on the headstock allow for easy string changing and tuning stability.

It features a 16.5 mm spaced bridge that sits on a carved out ‘shelf’ and rear-mounted strap locks and jack to support the streamlined appearance that Mike was looking for. The Mini MB also features a 3D printed ramp that elegantly contours to its tortoiseshell pickguard, a pair of Fodera/Duncan Dual Coil pickups, and passive electronics with a stacked volume-volume control.

The classic tone wood combination of an alder body and maple tone block, roasted maple neck, and Indian rosewood fingerboard provides a warm, smooth low end and a tight mid range with excellent clarity and note articulation. The fingerboard features a gentle compound radius with small nickel-silver frets and an asymmetrical neck profile for easy playability.

The end result of this combined effort is a playable sculpture that’s light, compact, and will turn heads with both its brilliant tone and striking visual style.
