Harmoni Kelley is known as the hard-rocking, deep grooving, bass ace behind country music star Kenny Chesney. A self-taught musician, Harmoni picked up the bass at age 17 and hasn’t looked back. With over two decades of experience both on the road and in the studio, she has mastered the art of playing by ear and understands the importance of being able to lay back, listen and play for the song.

In her new video, Harmoni shares her advice on how players of all skills levels can best learn new songs on their own.

From Harmoni: Whether you’ve been playing music for 5 months or 50 years, you’ve likely encountered a situation where you're faced with learning a song or a batch of songs and, possibly in a very short amount of time. In this video, I’m going to share with you my favorite little tips and tricks for learning a song quickly and effectively. Some of these things may sound like no-brainers, but there may be a couple that you’ve never thought of before. Either way, these have always worked for me. After over 20 years of playing bass as a side musician and often having to learn many songs for different artists or bands at the same time, I’ve developed some techniques and discovered some helpful gear that work for me and wanted to share them with you.
