Deftones Bassist Sergio Vega Opens Reverb Shop

Basses and more gear used throughout Vega's career are all up for grabs

Sergio Vega has been providing the rumbling bass sound of Deftones and Quicksand for over a decade. After all that time, he’s ready to part ways with some of the gear that got him to where he is now.

As of today, you can buy a piece of his legacy because The Official Sergio Vega of Deftones & Quicksand Reverb Shop is open.

Basses, guitars, and more gear used throughout Vega’s career are all up for grabs. “This stuff is near and dear to me,” he says. “I’ve used these things for the past 10 plus years with Quicksand and Deftones. These are things I [used on] tours with Deftones around the world. [Gear that] I’ve been in writing sessions with, that I’ve been in the studio with.”

Among the shop’s highlights is a Fractal Axe FX-II and Axe FX-II XL+ dual setup, complete with labeled Fractal Foot Controllers, that Vega used for live shows and recording.

“They still contain all of my presets and patches throughout the years,” he says. “So they have everything from the patches that I used for ‘Diamond Eyes,’ ‘Poltergeist,’ ‘Tempest’…to the seed patches I’d make at writing sessions. They encompass everything, my live patches, my recording patches, so you’ll get to see the differences between them.”

In addition to the gear listed above, The Official Sergio Vega of Deftones & Quicksand Reverb Shop also includes:

  • A suite of Fender Jaguar basses, which Vega is known to collect—”These are the basses I’ve recorded everything from Diamond Eyes to Ohm, to Interiors with Quicksand as well,” he says.
  • A collection of Fender Squier Bass VIs, “These are things that I have loved and have been meticulously maintained over the years,” Vega explains.
  • Tour posters, a wardrobe case, and other road-worn memorabilia, perfect for any fan of Vega’s bands, are also available.

As Vega continues to build his collection of gear, he’s realized that it’s time to clean out the studio.”The only reason I’m getting rid of [this gear] is because I find myself not using them as much, and also as you acquire more gear, you want to make space for that gear,” he says.
